National Crime Research Intelligence Bureau (NCRIB)
The National Crime Research Intelligence Bureau (NCRIB) is an independent, non-governmental research and public-interest institution committed to strengthening justice systems, supporting lawful investigations, promoting human rights, and advancing evidence-based crime prevention strategies.
NCRIB functions as a professional research, training, and advisory body working in cooperation with lawful authorities, institutions, and civil society to enhance public safety and the rule of law.
Core Functional Areas
1. Crime Research & Intelligence Analysis
- Conduct research on emerging crime trends, criminal methodologies, and risk environments.
- Analyze data and develop analytical reports to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Prepare risk assessments and thematic studies on cybercrime, financial crime, organized crime, and related areas.
- Identify systemic gaps and recommend preventive strategies for institutions and stakeholders.
2. Analytical & Technical Support to Investigations
- Provide research-based analytical support in complex matters relating to cyber, financial, and organized crime.
- Offer technical inputs, documentation assistance, and subject-matter expertise where legally permissible.
- Promote the use of modern forensic awareness, digital evidence practices, and lawful procedures.
- Facilitate coordination and knowledge-sharing among relevant stakeholders and institutions.

3. Training, Capacity Building & Professional Development
- Design and deliver training programs for law enforcement personnel, compliance professionals, legal practitioners, and institutional stakeholders.
- Organize workshops, seminars, certification programs, and conferences on crime prevention and investigation awareness.
- Develop manuals, research publications, and educational resources.
- Strengthen institutional capacity through knowledge-based skill development initiatives.
4. Policy Research, Advisory & Advocacy
- Provide research-based policy recommendations on crime prevention, justice delivery, and security challenges.
- Contribute to discussions on legal reforms and institutional best practices.
- Encourage cooperation among public institutions, private sector entities, and civil society.
- Promote transparent, accountable, and lawful systems aligned with constitutional values.
5. Technology, Innovation & Digital Safety
- Study and promote the use of advanced technologies such as data analytics, cyber intelligence tools, and digital forensics awareness.
- Collaborate with academic institutions, researchers, and technology partners for innovation in crime prevention.
- Monitor emerging technological threats and publish awareness materials.
- Support responsible and ethical use of technology in the justice and security domain.
6. Public Outreach & Preventive Awareness
- Conduct public awareness campaigns on crime prevention, cyber safety, and legal rights.
- Provide educational resources to help citizens protect themselves from becoming victims of crime.
- Build partnerships with schools, universities, community organizations, and industry groups.
- Encourage community participation in safety and prevention initiatives.
Human Rights & Rule of Law Functions
In furtherance of constitutional values and public interest, NCRIB shall:
- Promote awareness and protection of human rights.
- Encourage and collaborate with voluntary organizations working in the field of human rights and justice.
- Undertake and promote research, documentation, and education related to human rights.
- Support lawful interventions, with appropriate permissions, in matters involving alleged human rights concerns.
- Promote adherence to the rule of law at national and international levels.
- Examine, study, or document issues relating to alleged violations of rights or systemic negligence, and place findings before appropriate authorities or forums in accordance with law.
Residual Functions
NCRIB may undertake such additional lawful activities as are necessary to advance its objectives in the areas of crime research, public safety, institutional capacity building, and human rights protection, consistent with applicable laws and regulations.
